"Sad, but very true - resources within NHS simply do not cater for psychological support after critical or life-changing Illness. I was so fortunate to access expert support & strategies at OutdoorCure. Claire is truly inspirational"
This programme has been specifically designed to help people who have gone through a life-changing injury, illness or incident. This could be a separation, divorce or maybe bereavement - no matter what the cause, life as you know it, ceases to exist. We can provide you with the resources to rebuild your life, gaining purpose, meaning and freedom.
'You must learn a new way to think,
before you can master a new way to be'
- Marianne Williamson
Our programme provides you with a sense of mastery, by introducing you to 'The 3 R's'.
Reflect - Giving you a safe place to explore the impact of your illness, injury or incident
Reconnect - Identify who you are now and how this fits with your family, friends and work-life balance
Redirect - Using your newly discovered self-knowledge to make plans for the future
The programme consists of six fortnightly meetings in a natural outdoor setting, and is tailored to you and your needs. You can expect to gain a more detailed level of self-awareness, enabling you to understand and accept what has happened in your life; a new outlook to move forward, and a range of new skills to improve your psychological wellbeing.
At OutdoorCure we have found that many people are discharged from hospital or medical services without adequate psychological support or guidance. It is at this point that the hard work really begins. That is why, at OutdoorCure, we believe that psychological support is vital to your recovery. The process of integrating back into day-to-day living is not a simple or quick process and can be a very challenging time. You may find this is exacerbated by your own and other people’s expectations of your previous self, and the perception that you are, or should be, 'back to normal'. The programme helps you manage this process in a way that avoids the many pitfalls that may hinder your journey.

'Not until we are lost do we begin to find ourselves'
- Henry David Thoreau
Have you lost your way?
Are you struggling to find any pleasure in life?
Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed?
Your personalised programme will focus on the processing of your feelings of confusion or distress
and will look at reorganising your priorities. After coaching, our clients frequently report that they understand themselves better, have significantly increased motivation and a greater sense of resilience. Armed with effective strategies, they find it much easier to deal with life’s challenges and uncertainties.
Using the principles of mindfulness, our Mindset Reset coaching package gives you the space, in scenic tranquillity, to take time out of your busy schedule to 'turn the noise' of life down. It will equip you with the knowledge, skills and confidence to help you overcome both current and future obstacles, in order to live a happier, more successful and fulfilling life.
Research has shown that the implementation of mindfulness dramatically helps to reduce stress and anxiety. Mindfulness is the practice of living in the present moment, being aware of the rich experiences in life that are happening all around you. It is a neutral, calm and present state of mind. Mindfulness trains the mind to slow down and gives you the opportunity to observe more of the world around you.
Are you off sick or looking for employment following illness, stress or an injury?
Looking to return to your job but unsure what support you will need in work?
Are you looking to reintegrate an employee back into work?
Before you are ready to return to work, it is important to consider how and when you will return and what changes need to be made to make it safe for you to do so.  As Vocational Rehabilitation specialists, we will work with you -  and employers - to develop a 'Return to Work Plan' that will take into account a wide range of factors. It will include how long you have been off work and any workplace adjustments necessary to support you in your job role and work environment.
Creating your Return to Work Plan may include:
  • Identifying reasonable adjustments (to support your return to work).
  • A functional assessment of your cognitive capabilities, using a range of psychometric assessments and work trial exercises.
  • Discussing potential changes to working times or shifts.
  • Planning a gradual and manageable return to work to allow you to re-adjust to full attendance.
  • Discussing how your return to work plan will be both supported and reviewed by your employer.
The importance of a detailed and carefully thought-out 'Return to Work Plan' cannot be underestimated. It can prevent returning to work too soon after an illness. It can also provide you with a sense of security that your needs are being considered and that there is a process in place to manage your return to work. This reduces feelings of isolation and uncertainty, which can have a negative effect on both your recovery and your effectiveness at work.
Our Occupational Psychologist can also assist you to identify a job or career which provides a good fit for you and then help you to create a specific personal action plan which will assist you to achieve your employment goals.
