Our Approach

'Think Different, Think Simple'

"Following my sudden unexpected surgery and illness I was totally lost, and possibly heading for a depressive illness due to extreme fatigue and lack of insight into myself and medics alike.  The strategies that you delivered Claire were fundamental in not only recovery physically, but the ability to look forward to a future filled with new opportunities.  A huge thank you." - Alison, former client

Our aim is to empower you to use the therapeutic benefits of the great outdoors and to introduce you to practical strategies that help build a healthier mindset. Our sessions usually take place on the beautiful Cannock Chase, 2684 hectares of coniferous and broadleaf woodlands, in Staffordshire, England.

We offer a free telephone appointment to find out if this is the right approach for you. You can also take a look at our wellbeing blog here.

At OutdoorCure we are big believers in the therapeutic benefits of animals, in particular, dogs! We have our very own OutdoorCure therapy dog who can accompany you on your sessions. Many clients relax more with her around and find her a great source of comfort and support. She is a great companion for your therapeutic session, whether this be in a walk and talk session or at your initial appointment.

Why the Outdoors?

'In every walk with nature, one receives far more
than he seeks' – John Muir
Mindful walking Staffordshire

Researchers at Kings College London found that being outdoors, seeing trees, hearing bird song, seeing the sky and feeling in contact with nature were associated with higher levels of mental well being (2018).

It has been well documented that direct encounters with the natural outdoor world can aid in  healing emotional trauma, reduce stress and lower both heart rate and blood pressure.

A view of nature, even through a window, can speed up recovery from surgery. Studies found that observing the ever-changing environment of nature, enabled people to cultivate a positive attitude, renewed attention and mindfulness which strengthened their self-confidence and self-esteem.
